Welcome to our kennels.
Here at September's Breeze we breed and show whippets. Bellow you will find some more information about this amazing breed
The whippet is a medium-sized breed that originated in England. They were originally bred for racing and hare coursing. Whippets are sighthounds and have been described as an English miniture greyhound. Today, they are bred as both show dogs and companions, and are sometimes used for racing and lure coursing.
Whippets are generally quiet and gentle dogs, and may be content to spend much of the day resting. It is said that they have two top speeds 35 m/ph and 0 m/ph.
Whippets are not well-adapted for living in a kennel, or as outside dogs. Their short coats do not provide insulation to withstand prolonged periods in cold temperatures. In winter it is suggested that some kind of coat is put on for them. Their social nature makes them suitable indoor companions. Whippets are quiet and thus well suited to apartment life, but require regular exercise and the chance to run free. Care should be taken with whippets on the street as it is difficult to instill any sort of traffic sense into some of them.
